Overview
Join Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - McKinney as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. PRN variable days and nights; minimum of 16 hours per pay period. On-call: 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year. Requires a minimum of 2 years CST experience.

The Surgical Technologist 2 functions in the intraoperative phase to expedite surgical procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role assists the surgical team by ensuring the operating room is safe, equipped, and ready for procedures.
- Prepare operative site, instrument sets, and supplies; ensure proper instrument counts and equipment functioning.
- Assist with draping, positioning, and passing sterile supplies; maintain sterility and instrument integrity.
- Observe infection control policies and regulatory guidelines; ensure safe environment for staff and patients.
- Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and equipment; manage cart contents and records.
- Support proper specimen handling, dressings, and post-case room setup.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons and team members; anticipate needs during procedures.
Key Success Factors
- Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization standards; sterile/aseptic technique; anatomy and surgical procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork.
- Awareness of hazards and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited program. - Experience:
Minimum 2 years CST experience. - Certification/License: BLS (within 30 days of hire/transfer); CST certification from NBSTSA or NCCT; formal ST training (military/public health service acceptable); prior ST employment in a healthcare facility before 9/1/2009 acceptable with GAP and CST requirements.
