Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM (32 hours/week)
Braces of McKinney is seeking a motivated, reliable Orthodontic Assistant to join our orthodontic team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting orthodontic procedures, and creating a positive patient experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with both children and families in a busy orthodontic practice.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for procedures
- Take and process dental X-rays
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment
- Manage patient flow and ensure smooth clinic operations
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and oral hygiene
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Provide excellent patient care and customer service
- Follow all safety, infection control, and compliance protocols
- Active Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification
- X-Ray certification
- Experience in orthodontics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

- A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent is required.
- An Orthodontist Assistant state certification, included but not limited to, nitrous oxide, dental radiology, and expanded function dental assistant (EFDA) or expanded duties dental assistant (EDDA).
- CPR certification
- Experience working in a professional, medical, or dental environment with direct customer service is desired.
- A minimum of 1-year orthodontic assisting experience.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
- Must be customer service oriented and able to communicate with a pleasant demeanor at all times.
- Effective written and verbal communication with all staff and management.
- Must project a capable and professional image that reflects company values.
- Excellent organizational skills; strong attention to detail, multitask and perform duties in a timely manner.
- PC skills and ability to learn and use new programs; proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office; experience with office equipment.
- Dental Office Environment
- Hours may change to meet the business needs
- Travel to offices that provide orthodontic services may be required
- Attend and participate in all office meetings, continuing education events and morning huddles
- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, parents and staff
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds and to twist, turn, bend and stoop
