Description
The Security Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Security Coordinator is responsible for regional Security Services key administrative tasks to include but not limited to security compliance with training, various record keeping, data analytics and security systems testing.
Responsibilities- Responsible for communicating regularly with other Security Services leadership, including but not limited to Program Managers, Regional Manager and Regional Director regarding departmental needs.
- Assists in identifying opportunities for improvement regarding Security Services issues at their site.
- Responsible for seeking and relaying feedback from the team on departmental improvements.
- Oversee the general security monitoring, providing recommendations to ensure compliance with NMand Security Services policies as needed.
- Must maintain personal knowledge of industry standards and technology trends in healthcare security.
- Ensure Security Services employee personnel file documentation is up to date at all times.
- Responsible collaborating with other site leaders to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist in the rollout and education of new processes in a positive manner, along with development of site and building specific security procedures and policies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, such as department Managers and Directors.
- Responsible for audits and metrics to include but not limited to:
Security Performance andKey Performance Indicators to assist with compliance to Security Services policy and procedure. - Assist in creating a culture that supports NM’s Patients First mission.
- Complete departmental and Environment of Care assessments as directed.
- Oversee the onboarding of new hires and Field Training Officer programs, including orientation,internal training, IAHSS testing, and annual mandatory education and competencies.
- Ensures integrity and timely reporting of security metrics to leadership for monthly and annual reports.
- Develops and maintains relationships with key internal partners to ensure public safety within and around NMHC properties
- Complies with security compliance with regulatory standards, including Environment of Care (EOC), Joint Commission and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
- Complies with security laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements.
- Supports programs based on strategic security services initiatives at the local or system level.
- Promotes and maintains a positive and constructive working environment.
- Other responsibilities as designated in support of organizational priorities.
- Physical Demands
- Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 65 pounds and a push/pull force up to 75 pounds
- Physical ability to lift/assist with heavy objects occasionally
- Physical ability and knowledge to operate a motor vehicle.
- Physical ability to stand and walk during much of work shift patrolling hospital buildings and Grounds
- High-school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire
- Successful completion of the IAHSS Advanced exam within 180 days of hire
- Maintain IAHSS Basic and Advanced certification
- Current Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association within 9 months of hire
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals including employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, police, etc.
- Writing skills necessary to complete reports and paperwork that meets departmental standards
- Previous experience in a health care safety and security role or related experience
- Associate’s Degree or two additional years of relevant experience.
