Regional Construction Controller

Are you a seasoned VP of Finance/Controller with a hands-on approach, ready to make a significant impact in a dynamic, expanding organization?

Multi State construction/roofing company in need of a strong finance and accounting executive to lead the financial operations across branches in multiple states-including both union and non-union entities.

As our VP/Controller, you will oversee all accounting functions company-wide, driving timely and accurate reporting, cash flow management, and regulatory compliance. You’ll play a critical role in supporting and fostering operational excellence.

• Multi-Entity Oversight: Direct and coordinate accounting operations for branches in multiple states, ensuring consistency and robust controls throughout the organization.
• Transaction & General Ledger Management: Supervise all transactional accounting activities (AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, general ledger) for every entity. Ensure proper coding and documentation from all branches.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow across all sites, prepare and forecast periodic statements, and oversee banking relationships and reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Oversee close processes and consolidation of financial statements. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, union agreements, and best practices.
• Union & Non-Union Payroll Administration: Oversee payroll processes, compliance with contracts, and liaise with managers and HR for related reporting.
• Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Develop, implement, and monitor controls; drive process improvements, technology adoption, and scaling of systems for organizational growth.
• Team Leadership & Communication: Supervise, guide, and develop accounting staff at each branch, lead headcount planning, and serve as the primary point of contact for accounting and finance matters.
• Strategic Support & Analysis: Support the CFO with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Systems & Technology: Oversee and recommend technology solutions for accounting and reporting needs, focusing on scalable platforms.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience IN CONSTRUCTION industry
• 5+ years in a controller or senior accounting role
• Experience overseeing multi-site and multi-state operations
• Strong knowledge of union payroll administration and compliance
• Proficient in accounting systems/software - Vista is a PLUS
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel
• Proven ability to lead, develop, and supervise accounting teams across multiple locations
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
