Bakery​/Deli Clerk

Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend bakery or deli items to customers.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients following recipes.
• Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
• Check product quality and review "sell by" dates.
• Use kitchen equipment properly, including stoves, scales, fryers, etc.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping.
• Understand store layout and locate products for customers.
• Stay current with ads and product knowledge.
• Maintain inventory and temperature logs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to food safety and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs needed.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, manage conflicts, and act with integrity.
• Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler’s permit
