• Coordinate the school system’s comprehensive Safety Program to ensure that the implementation of the program is in accordance with local, state, and federal policies, rules, and regulations.
• Annually review, update, and revise the Emergency Ready Reference Manual, District Safety Plan, and School Safety and Security Plans.
• Respond to all school level safety and security issues that rise to the district level and coordinate with appropriate school level and district level personnel to reconcile situations.
• Coordinate with building level administrators and Assistant Superintendents of Leadership to evaluate, develop, and implement school safety plans on an annual basis.
• Serve as the point of contact for pandemic, contagious disease, and other components of school safety and emergency preparedness planning.
• Serve as liaison with the Henry County Police Department in the operations of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program.
• Implement professional development activities associated with school safety for appropriate stakeholders.
• Manage school level safety and security measures including, but not limited to, fire drills, lock down drills, evacuation drills, and other safety protocols to ensure the safety of the school building and inhabitants. Provide feedback to building level administration and the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, as necessary.
• Maintain open communication with local Emergency Operations Center (EOC), provide updates to the Weather Team as appropriate, and make recommendations to the Superintendent.
• Serve as liaison between the schools, the district, and the local Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and state Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).
• Attend local weather briefings with the EMA and provide updates to supervisor and Weather Team as appropriate.
• Monitor schools and district communication infrastructure to ensure knowledge and support of communication systems.
• Be a resource for principals in supervision, professional development, and visioning for Campus Safety Monitors.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
:

• Prior school-level or district office administrative experience, preferred.
• Ability to work well with staff and the public; ability to effectively respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members, agencies, or members of the community, required.
• Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
• Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
• Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
• Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
• Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
• Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
• Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
