Overview
Occupational Therapist / Outpatient position at Emory Healthcare responsible for delivering quality patient care and managing staff operations.
Responsibilities- Coordinate daily activities of discipline‑specific staff and students to ensure quality delivery of patient care services.
- Participate in direct and consultative patient care.
- Perform routine and specialized procedures relating to therapy techniques.
- Maintain proficiency in technical skills required for managing patient care.
- Communicate regularly with members of patient care team, patient, family members, and others involved with patient care.
- Assist with inventory control and identify the need for purchasing supplies and equipment to ensure availability of commonly used materials.
- Identify department‑specific needs/equipment for inclusion in budget(s).
- Provide input to departmental short and long‑term goals and objectives.
- Review and revise patient care and treatment procedures and policies on an ongoing basis.
- Communicate policies, procedures and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
- Assist with staff management and employee performance.
- Interview applicants and make recommendations for hiring staff.
- Assist in the maintenance of discipline‑specific records pertaining to continuing education, personnel, charting, financial operations, and quality improvement.
- Serve as a resource to medical staff, students, other allied health professionals, and support staff concerning the operations of the specific discipline.
- Assist in interpreting applicable policies.
- Assist with coordination of student activities.
- Participate in research activities being conducted within the organization.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- A bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an American Occupational Therapy Association accredited program.
- Licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Georgia.
- Must have and maintain NBCOT certification.
- At least three years of clinical experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.
(Medium‑Heavy) 36–75 lbs 0–33% of the work day occasionally; 20–35 lbs 34–66% of the workday frequently; 10–20 lbs 67–100% of the workday constantly; lifting up to 75 lbs max; carrying objects up to 35 lbs; occasional to frequent standing & walking; occasional sitting; close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing).
Environmental FactorsEnvironmental exposures may include blood‑borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, travel, and use of personal protective equipment such as respirators.
