- Design layouts of equipment.
- Assist in specifying new production equipment, including researching available providers, determining specifications, obtaining quotations, recommending purchases, performing factory‑acceptance tests, arranging installation, completing startup, training, and performance qualification.
- Assist the Automation team to find the ideal setup for the factory flow.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
- Identify and negotiate with other internal functional areas for required personnel.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Cost, feasibility, machine and mold configuration, secondary packaging layout, projects or sub‑projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Minimum 2‑year degree (Associate) in a related field or equivalent; 4‑year degree (Bachelor) preferred.
Experience:
3 to 5 years as an engineer in production, preferably within the plastics industry; technical engineering background preferred.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and skills.
- Mechanical and electrical skills.
- Knowledge of packaging systems.
- Ability to create engineering drawings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Thorough understanding of technical aspects of different types of equipment.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) – preferred, not required.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) – preferred, not required.
- CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) – preferred, not required.
Other Requirements:
Travel within the U.S. up to 70% or more is expected.
- Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
- Noise level in the work environment usually moderate to high.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
