Teacher Work Days: 190 Essential Duties:

  • Provide instruction that assists students, teachers, and staff with a systematic approach to curriculum, assessment, instruction, research-based and best practices for sustained student achievement in career and technical pathways.
  • Work collaboratively with graduation coaches in order to increase graduation rate and decrease dropout rate for students with disabilities.
  • Plan, develop, secure, and implement meaningful and valuable professional development and follow-up opportunities necessary to build capacity in special education staff to implement the curriculum and to improve instruction.
  • Use assessment results to assist with the development of instructional strategies.
  • Participate in IEP and related meetings to promote collaboration and communication with a focus on providing career and technical occupational input based on knowledge of technical pathways and individual student data.
  • Identify students with disabilities who require supports and accommodations through the CTI program by consulting with special education and career and technical instructors.
  • Participate in IEP and related meetings with a focus on the development of a transition plan with a purpose of improving postsecondary outcomes for students with disabilities.
  • Provide work-based learning experiences by assisting and supervising students with disabilities with job placements.
  • Coordinate and administer technical and career assessment of interests for all students with disabilities in order to provide data needed to determine required supports.
  • Maintain communication with parents of CTI students by reporting their child’s progress, stating specific concerns, and encouraging parental input. 11.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports for students with disabilities, adhering to state and local mandated timelines.
  • Utilize community resources including Vocational Rehabilitation, advisory councils, and the Interagency Transition Council in supporting objectives for transition in order to meet state and local requirements.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all CTAE, CTI, and special education instructors.
  • Represent the school system at meetings, programs, conferences, and conventions including student-based activities.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication relative to all areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator Certificate or meet the district's professional qualifications.
  • Hold a CTI supplemental field endorsement or agree to obtain CTI certification prior to beginning the assignment.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Must abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
