Position SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the administration team responsible for the overall financial strategy, integrity, and performance of a cardiology practice with 21 providers and 6 locations. The CFO provides leadership for budgeting, financial reporting, and revenue cycle operations, with a primary focus on improving profitability, cash flow, and payer reimbursement while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and payer contracts.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead the practice’s financial strategy, including short‑ and long‑term financial plans aligned with clinical and growth objectives.
- Oversee preparation, analysis, and presentation of timely financial statements, KPIs, and dashboards, including practice‑level P&L, service line profitability, physician productivity, and cash flow.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process; monitor variances and implement corrective action plans to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Provide executive oversight of the entire revenue cycle, including patient registration, insurance verification, authorizations, coding, charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, denials management, and collections.
- Ensure accurate charge capture and coding for cardiology services (office visits, testing, imaging, procedures) in collaboration with coding and clinical leadership.
- Set and monitor revenue cycle KPIs: days in A/R, A/R aging by bucket, clean claim rate, denial rate, net collection rate, write‑offs, and lag from date of service to claim submission and payment.
- Lead initiatives to improve front‑end processes (insurance verification, financial counseling, copay and deductible collection at time of service) to reduce downstream denials and bad debt.
- Serve as strategic advisor to the Physician Partners/Board and Practice Administrator/CEO on financial performance, growth opportunities, and capital investments.
- Lead, develop, and mentor finance and revenue cycle teams (accounting, billing, coding, A/R, patient financial services); set clear expectations and accountability for results.
- Communicate financial results and trends clearly to physicians and managers, translating data into actionable operational initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in healthcare, preferably in a physician practice, cardiology, or specialty group setting.
- Demonstrated track record of improving revenue cycle metrics and financial performance in a healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of medical practice finance, payer reimbursement methodologies (FFS, value‑based, bundled payments), and healthcare billing and coding concepts.
- Proficiency with practice management and EHR systems, financial reporting tools, and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians and non‑financial leaders.
Salary: $100,000 to $150,000 based on experience, with performance‑based bonus
