OverviewWe are searching for a Production Superintendent to support a lumber facility in Magnolia/McCombs, MS. This person will be responsible for the safe coordination and oversight of the daily activities in the mill, kilns, and shipping departments, including interfacing with the sales teams. You will embody safety and demonstrate excellent team skills with a proven ability to lead and develop people.
Responsibilities- Oversee hiring, planning, scheduling, and daily supervision of shift supervisors and hourly production staff, including performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing development.
- Lead departmental safety programs and training to ensure a safe working environment.
- Drive and sustain department performance in line with goals for safety, quality, waste reduction, housekeeping, and process reliability.
- Provide leadership for continuous improvement efforts, team meetings, and safety initiatives.
- Lead proactive problem-solving to address operational issues before they escale.
- Ensure production reporting is accurate, timely, and consistent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to improve performance through strong relationships, coaching, development, and fostering a continuous-improvement culture.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices.
- Successful track record in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams to achieve significant, measurable results.
- Skilled at motivating employees and building commitment toward shared goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills, with solid judgment.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including MS Office, Windows-based programs, and internet navigation.
- Proven ability to meet and sustain operational and business targets.
- Experience in lumber or wood products manufacturing highly desired.
- Able and willing to work at heights, climb stairs, tolerate extreme temperatures, and work in confined or restricted spaces as required.
