Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, and direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Graduate Nurse (GN) performs direct patient care for an assigned number of patients. Assists with accurate and timely entry of patient orders and/or charges. The GN will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and will rotate between day and night shift according to the needs of the unit and staff.
Graduate Nurse will function in the role as a PNT until license is obtained.
The GN is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Ability to work and relate to others in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, medical staff, administration, patients, and visitors. Ability to cope with frequent unpleasant sights/smells and difficult patient/family behaviors. Will be responsible to document care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, and charge into computer system.
Attendance to yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions.
