Position: 03128 Assistant Store Manager

Assistant Manager at Sally Beauty plays a pivotal role in leading and developing the store team while ensuring top‑note customer experiences and meeting brand standards.

Essential Function

Store Managers oversee hiring, development, and leadership of store associates, ensuring optimal customer experiences, efficient store operations, and brand adherence. Assistant Managers support the Store Manager in all operations, taking full responsibility for Primary Duties when the Store Manager is absent.

Primary Duties
  • Brand (30%): Provides supervision and supports the direction & planning of associates’ daily goals and activities to deliver an exceptional client experience, maximize sales/KPIs, and drive customer loyalty. Emphasis on in‑store selling model and Omni‑channel. Ensures brand standards (merchandising, POGs, marketing, back rooms, dress code, etc.) are met. Acts as main point of contact for customer issues. Analyzes store trends to anticipate customer demands.
  • People (30%): Engages, trains, and develops teams to achieve positive results. Leverages internal hiring platforms and actively recruits to build a strong candidate network. Identifies each associate’s strengths and opportunities, coaching or counseling effectively. Holds the team accountable to Company policies. Resolves associate concerns and keeps them informed about relevant Company information. Builds relationships with Store Manager peers, maintains consistent communication with AM/DM, and fosters an inclusive environment.
  • Operations (30%): Ensures execution of all company processes through training, management, analysis, and continuous improvement. Supports digital strategies such as Omni‑channel fulfillment (SFS/SDD/BOPIS). Manages inventory ordering and shipment, schedules payroll hours, performs store opening and closing procedures accurately, and follows through on Company directives, assignments, and projects.
  • Safety / Loss Prevention (10%): Maintains a safe store environment for associates and customers, enforcing all policies and procedures. Protects company assets by following inventory and cash control procedures related to shrink, damages, and banking. Utilizes reporting tools and technology. Ensures HAZMAT training and execution compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 3+ years retail sales/customer service experience preferred.
  • At least 1+ year prior management experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead or support a team of associates to meet business objectives.
  • Effective communication with team and management.
  • Scheduling availability to meet business needs.
  • Cosmetology license desirable, but not required.

Physical Requirements

The position requires physical exertion such as standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items. May require work in other stores.
