We are seeking a Registered Nurse - NICU for our facility to ensure we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. The role supports patient care, policy development, and quality improvement.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients in the NICU and Newborn Nursery.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures in the NICU that guide and support the provision of services.
- Meet the standards of Practice for a Level II and Level III NICU and manage all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
- Plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
- Perform neonatal assessment of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
- Provide nursing care of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
- Perform gestational age assessments.
- Demonstrate appropriate usage and understanding of equipment used in the department.
- Participate in mandatory unit education activities.
- Participate in the discharge process to include parent teaching.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required or must be currently enrolled.
- Current RN license in Texas and/or current Compact License.
- Current BCLS certification required.
- NRP certification within 90 days of hire.
- STABLE preferred.
- 1 year of current NICU experience required or will undergo a training program if one is available.

Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas has been serving the Rio Grande Valley for more than 30 years. The full‑service hospital has 320+ beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing 35+ specialties. It offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services. The Emergency Room is a Level III Trauma Center. The women’s services include L&D and a 30+ bed NICU.
