Overview

Infusion RN – Texas Oncology

This is a full‑time Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm position with no weekends, on‑call, or major holidays. The role can be level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Ensure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Qualifications Level 1
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the state nursing board.
  • 0–3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Level 2 (additional to Level 1 requirements)
  • 3–5 years nursing experience.
  • Oncology certification preferred.
Level Sr (additional to Level 1 and 2 requirements)
  • Five years nursing experience.

The work environment is typical of an oncology/hematology clinic. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
