Overview
Rio Grande Regional Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse RN in the NICU to join our healthcare team. Our nurses are celebrated for frontline patient care, empathy, and dedication. This role supports high-quality, efficient care in the NICU and Newborn Nursery.
Responsibilities- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients in the NICU and Newborn Nursery.
- Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the NICU that guide and support the provision of services.
- Ensures compliance with standards of Practice for a Level II and Level III NICU and manages all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
- Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
- Performs neonatal assessment of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
- Performs nursing care of NICU patients and Newborn Nursery patients.
- Performs gestational age assessments.
- Demonstrates appropriate usage and understanding of equipment used in the department.
- Participates in mandatory unit education activities.
- Participates in the discharge process including parent teaching.
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required or must be currently enrolled.
- Current RN license in Texas and/or current Compact License.
- Current BCLS certification required.
- NRP certification within 90 days of hire.
- STABLE preferred.
- 1 year of current NICU experience required or must participate in a training program if one is available.
Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas has served the Rio Grande Valley for more than 30 years. The full-service hospital has 320+ beds and a team of more than 500 physicians representing 35+ specialties. Our Emergency Room is a Level III Trauma Center, with extended ER services through three remote ERs in McAllen/Mission, Edinburg, and San Juan. Women’s Services include L&D and a 30+ bed NICU.
