Overview

Position: Commercial Supervisor.
Location: McAllen, TX area.
Pay: $18.00/hour.
Classification: Full time.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise work activities of janitorial personnel in commercial and industrial establishments.
  • Lead, guide, and/or train custodians in applicable procedures and techniques.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Must be available to work flexible shift hours including weekends.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as needed including: dust, mop floors, vacuum carpets, clean restrooms and restock paper and soap supplies, empty trash receptacles, and bag trash for proper disposal when necessary.
  • May purchase janitorial supplies and equipment, take periodic inventories, screen applicants, train new employees, and recommend dismissals.
  • Assign duties, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding janitorial services and take corrective action.
  • Recommend personnel actions, such as hires and discharges, to ensure proper staffing.
  • Attend meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
  • Inspect potential worksites and create proposals.
  • Must perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of custodial practices, machinery, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate vacuums and other related equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to lead and train staff.

  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma.
  • 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Must be bilingual.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass extensive background check.
