The Assistant Professor (research track) position focuses on high‑level expertise in cancer العسكرية, immunology, immunotherapy, bioinformatics, formulations, and related concepts. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a cancer and immunology research program, establishing and overseeing laboratory operations, generating data, writing manuscripts, submitting progress reports to the division director, and maintaining laboratory records. The candidate will secure extramural funding, expand collaborations, teach graduate and medical students as required, and serve on departmental and university committees.
Supervision of students and laboratory technicians is expected. Teaching, research, and service duties are distributed per the Department Chair and may change based on departmental needs.
Doctoral degree in a basic science discipline (e.g., biology, pharmacology, immunology, biotechnology, nanomedicine, pharmaceutics). Minimum of four years of postdoctoral research experience. Distinguished record of scholarly activity and teaching experience in basic science.

The position is distributed across multiple Rio Grande Valley locations as required and is primarily performed in a general office environment. It is security sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215. Retirement benefits are provided through the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) for positions ≥20 hrs/week and 135 days; an optional TRS or ORP may be elected for ≥40 hrs/week.
