Position Summary
The Compliance Specialist supports the organization's import/export operations, compliance, and regulatory risk management activities. This role works cross-functionally to ensure adherence to U.S. and international trade laws, corporate policies, and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities – Legal & Regulatory Compliance- Support implementation and monitoring of compliance programs
- Conduct legal and regulatory research
- Assist with audits, investigations, and corrective actions
- Draft and maintain compliance policies and training materials
- Support HTS classification, COO determinations, and valuation
- Ensure compliance with CBP, EAR, ITAR, and CTPAT Certification Standards
- Coordinate with brokers and logistics providers
- Maintain statutory import/export records
- Identify compliance risks and gaps
- Track remediation actions
- Support compliance metrics and reporting
- Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field
- 5+ years compliance, legal, or trade experience
- 5+ years Customs clearance experience- with harmonized tariff schedule (HTS)
- 5+ years Identifying Country of origin experience
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience with Forced labor requirements
- Experience with CTPAT
- Intermediate excel and reporting skills
- Cross border compliance
- Business level Spanish Required (read, write, verbal)
- Business level English Required
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive or manufacturing experience
- Paralegal certification, law degree or law firm background
- Familiarity with USMCA, IATF 16949
