Position: Technician I - Educational Technologies Inventory Management
* Day
-to-day support of the inventory management system. This includes updating information and records, as well as maintaining inventory control of tags and labels on existing equipment.
* Assists in conducting inventory audits of Educational Technologies equipment on a daily and semiannual basis. Reconciles discrepancies in inventories.
* Inspect and verify equipment functionality, ensuring it meets operational standards and is free of defects or damage. Document any issues and coordinate necessary repairs or replacements.
* Enters inventory information into the departmental and college inventory management systems.
* Checks equipment in and out to faculty and staff.
* Collaborate with the shipping and receiving department to ensure that all ordered equipment and supplies received are accurate.
* Assist in getting surplus/non-working equipment ready for Auction.
* Prepares equipment to be checked out for special events.
* Prepares reports as needed. Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities.
* Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports.
* Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory, and reconciles count to computer-generated reports.
* Processes and documents the return of equipment as required following established procedures.
* Performs routine clerical duties, including data entry and answering telephones. Addresses, documents, and closes out work orders and tasks assigned.
* Supports instructional and institutional audiovisual needs.
* Tests and resolves equipment issues and provides development of working solutions.
* Assists with training and supporting faculty and staff to use instructional technologies.
* Maintains current knowledge on trends and developments in audiovisual hardware and software.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* To qualify, one of the following must be met:  + Associate's degree  + A minimum of 60 earned college hours
* At least one (1) year of audio-visual technology and inventory control or related work experience in a similar work environment, preferred.
* Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.
* Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
* Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.
* Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.
* Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; required to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.
* Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
* Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
* Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
* Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
* Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
* Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
* Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
* Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
* Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
* Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
* Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
* Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.
* Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
* Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
* Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
* Substantial movements (motions) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
