About The Role The Vet Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to animals. This position involves assisting with routine procedures, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring the comfort and well-being of animal patients. The Vet Assistant will be responsible for preparing animals for examinations, administering medications as directed, and monitoring their condition throughout their visit.

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and treatments by restraining animals and preparing necessary equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and animal housing to ensure a safe environment.
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed, monitoring their behavior and reporting any concerns to veterinary staff.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary professionals, following established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to provide guidance on post-treatment care, medication administration, and general animal health.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience or training in animal care or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively within a veterinary team.
- Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with pet owners and team members.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter environment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to veterinary care.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior.
- Knowledge of companion animal vaccination schedules.
