Overview
Join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services at the Debra Simon Center of Integrative Behavioral Health and Wellness of Hackensack Meridian Health’s Hackensack University Medical Center. We are seeking a full-time staff Perinatal and Postpartum psychologist with expertise in evidence-based psychotherapy, education, training, and research with a specialization in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders.
The Psychologist functions as a Clinical Psychologist under the supervision of the Director of Psychology, and in accordance with the Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct of the APA, guidelines from the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners, and standards set forth by the Joint Commission. They will independently diagnose and treat behavioral health disorders and psychosocial adjustment as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
The center serves patients with a full range of DSM diagnoses and varied stressors; the scope of practice will be articulated in privileges issued upon appointment to the Medical Staff. The position includes opportunities for training, supervision of junior staff, and contribution to psychology externship, internship, and post-doctoral programs. There is potential for significant professional growth as the Wellness Center develops new treatment tracks.
- Core Responsibilities:
assume duties and responsibilities of a Psychologist as prescribed by training and medical staff appointment; serve as a consultant in the Department of Psychiatry and provide behavioral health consultations within the medical center; act as a resource and liaison to other departments and community agencies seeking mental health information; participate in professional and community educational conferences and seminars. - Outpatient Process and Clinical Duties: participate in all phases of the outpatient process, including intake assessments, development and updating of treatment plans, providing empirically-based treatment in individual, family, and group modalities, collaborating with families and community resources, supervising trainees and less experienced staff, and attending disposition and other staff meetings.
- Patient Evaluation: evaluate patients per department policies, conduct DSM-based diagnostic evaluations, and utilize brief assessment tools integrated into diagnostic impressions.
- Treatment and Effectiveness: provide evidence-based treatment for individuals, couples, families, and groups; evaluate treatment effectiveness with periodic reassessments and outcome data; document changes in treatment plans with the team and patients; participate in team meetings and case reviews.
- Productivity: maintain productivity and adhere to treatment guidelines per departmental standards.
- Compliance and Professional Standards: provide services in accordance with HUMC policies, The Joint Commission, and New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners; adhere to organizational competencies and behavioral standards.
- Other duties: perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education & Training:
Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from an APA-accredited program in Clinical Psychology; completion of an APA-approved internship in Adult Clinical and/or Pediatric Psychology. - Experience &
Skills:
minimum of five years of related clinical experience serving patients across the mental health spectrum; proficiency in evidence-based treatments (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT); experience providing clinical training and supervision; sensitivity to multiculturalism and diversity; excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient computer skills including Google Suite. - Licenses and
Certifications:
valid Psychologist license.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Postdoctoral training and/or experience in Clinical Psychology.
