Patient Care Tech II - SE Cardiology

Overview

The Cardiac Telemetry Unit (3SE) is a 37-bed unit providing 24-hour care to cardiac patients. Cardiac patients are treated for conditions including coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, chest pain, post-myocardial infarction, arrhythmias and cardiomyopathy. The unit is generally fast-paced, offering opportunities to gain experience making quick, sound decisions for patients.

• GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient.
• TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, 12-lead ECG, dressing changes, CPR, and obtaining wound and throat cultures.
• EQUIPMENT - Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and setup.
• TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices and transfer/transport procedures.
• COMMUNICATION - Documents appropriately and communicates competently with patients and/or families to meet needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee and department information.
• QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Uses time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

• Minimum Education Preferred:
  High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
• Minimum Experience Required:
  Less than one year of previous job-related experience
• Preferred Experience 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
• Licensure/Certification s Required:
  Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA
• Other Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program. Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.

Salary Range: $16.70 - $25.53 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
