Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as a Day Care Licensing Team Clerical. Under direction, this position will provide clerical support as a secretary to a unit supervisor and professional staff. The role will answer phones, greet visitors, maintain files, perform general clerical functions, and compile and assemble data.
This position offers a great opportunity for someone who is detail‑oriented and interested in playing a supporting role in the Department’s operations. Job Responsibilities- Serve as Day Care Licensing Team Clerical.
- Greet visitors and answer incoming phone calls to determine the nature of the request, many of which may be hostile.
- As a word‑processing operator, compile and assemble data.
- Establish and maintain a filing system, ensuring information is readily available for reference/viewing.
- Generate first (standardized) response to applicant.
- Compile information necessary to prepare travel vouchers for assigned staff.
- Receive, sort, open, read, and distribute incoming mail.
- Follow oral and written instructions, gaining knowledge and experience in, and applying, evolving automated office equipment and technology to complete complex tasks.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- High school completion or equivalent knowledge, skill, and mental development.
- Two (2) years of office experience.
- Ability to type accurately at 45 words per minute.
- Must pass a background check.
