Department/Unit Summary

The Emergency Room (ER) at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies teamwork and effective communication to provide specialized care to critically ill patients. This is a 14-bed unit focused on delivering optimal medical attention and support. We aim to create environments where patients choose care, providers want to practice, and team members want to work.

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family as appropriate.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Works with patients  families to help improve the patient s abilities and support family members during illness.

Education and experience

• Associate s degree required.
• Bachelor s degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of clinical experience is strongly preferred.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
• Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire

License

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
• New Graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months with the expectation that an RN license will be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
