The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jackson Purchase Medical Center embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. This 8‑bed unit ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and other medical care treatments.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharge, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Work with patients' families to improve patient outcomes and support family coping.

• Critical thinking skills
• Decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Associate's degree required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
• Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire

• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the State of Kentucky.
• New graduates may work under a KY provisional license for up to 6 months while obtaining the RN license.
