We collect and analyze enormous amounts of data to provide cutting‑edge solutions to companies invested in transportation. This internship in 2026 is for students currently enrolled in a graduate degree program. The role is responsible for building a proof‑of‑concept business solution using advanced reinforcement learning in Analytics and Data Science.

This is a highly dynamic position that requires a great degree of flexibility, analytic agility and the ability to rapidly adapt to meet business needs, new technologies and data sources.

• Research and develop advanced machine learning methods to assess the technical feasibility and potential business value.
• Utilize effective project planning techniques to break down basic and occasionally moderately complex projects into tasks and ensure deadlines are kept.
• Use and learn a wide variety of tools and languages to achieve results (e.g., Python, SQL, machine learning libraries).
• Collaborate with the team to improve the effectiveness of business decisions through the use of data and machine learning/predictive modeling.
• Execute on modeling/machine learning projects effectively.
• Review and evaluate the appropriateness of techniques, given current modeling practices, to senior leadership.

• Target start date:
  May/June 2026.
• Currently pursuing a PhD degree in a quantitative field (e.g., mathematics, statistics, computer or physical science).
• Knowledge of reinforcement learning is required from coursework.
• Familiar with MDP framework such as value, action‑value function, reward, Monte Carlo methods.
• Experience with implementing model‑free reinforcement learning algorithms, especially policy gradient methods, including REINFORCE, Actor‑Critic methods, Proximal Policy Optimization.
• Demonstrated fluency with Python programming and ability to run simulations.
• Knowledge of programmatic advertising business is a strong plus.
• Experience with cloud computing services such as Vertex AI, Sage Maker or data warehouse service like Big Query is a plus.

Compensation offered for this role is between $20 and $42 an hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
