Job Title
Overhead Distribution C Line person
PayCompetitive/Hourly – Discussed During Interview Process
Responsibilities- Installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switch gear
- Setting poles and anchors, stringing overhead wire, applying proper sagging techniques
- Performing troubleshooting in primary and secondary systems
- Replacing cutout fuses and clearing faulted circuits and systems
- Ensuring daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment
- Maintaining company equipment safely and efficiently
- Communicating professionally with public and private property owners about work to be performed
- Performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work following company established Safety and Health standards
- Reporting potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson
- Carrying out all other duties as required or requested by Supervisors
- Ability to work with energized high voltage systems
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Knowledge of proper sagging techniques
- Ability to install and remove a service
- Knowledge of checking voltage on transformers, one-shot on a recloser, and grounding procedures
- Understanding of flag and tag procedures
- Knowledge of trenching and shoring, rigging, hand lines, line-man knot tying and use of a hand line
- Experience in assisting hooking up a single or three-phase transformer
- Experience in safely installing and removing a mechanical jumper
- Knowledge of minimum approach distance
- Experience operating and servicing required tools and equipment (bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioner, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)
- Ability to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, week-ends, etc.
- Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in the electrical power line construction industry
- Proof of work experience, schooling, and any certifications obtained during career
Must be willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
Driver License- Valid Driver’s License preferred; discuss during interview process
- Valid CDL preferred or willingness to obtain valid CDL within 90 days of employment; discuss if unable to obtain
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry an employee must maintain sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, sustain attention for extended periods, withstand exposure to all kinds of weather, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, traverse various terrain, perform job duties throughout a standard 8 or 10‑hour day, communicate professionally, read and comprehend written/verbal job instructions, and handle conflict professionally.
