Senior Construction Manager

* A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or relevant field experience and three (3) plus years' required work experience that must be in utility construction, OR
* Associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, or relevant field and five (5) plus years' required work experience that must be in utility construction, OR
* High school diploma/GED and seven (7) plus years of utility construction/maintenance experience.
* Valid driver’s license
* Experience performing H&S safety observations
* Experienced in various roles and/or jurisdictions within PGO
* Knowledgeable of crane/lifting operations and associated rigging
* Knowledgeable of DOT work zone compliance
* Thorough understanding of the "Keys to Life" safety document, Cardinal Electric Safety Rules, Cardinal Safe Digging Rules and contractor H&S safety supplementals
* Demonstrated knowledge and skills with various internal tools and software applications - (Maximo, Plantview, Construction Audit Tool, iTOA, Duke Energy GIS system, Planed Outage Portal(D), and Duke Energy ADMS tool (Distribution)
* Effective written and oral communication skills
* Working knowledge of Resource/Work Management principles
* Working knowledge of workforce resourcing and contract administration
* Strong conflict management and negotiation skills
* General understanding of budgeting practices and charging guidelines
* Effective problem solving and analytical skills
* Working knowledge of software applications such as Microsoft Office products and familiarity with retrieving all applicable corporate information

* Monitor and respond to construction approval forms (CAF) in Maximo (Distribution)
* Perform discretionary construction audits and enter them in the audit tool per requirements
* Perform technical reviews as assigned and complete within the required specified timeframe (Distribution)
* Communicate anomalies in the work plan to the correct stakeholders
* Review and understand the Contractor billing guidelines
* The Sr. Construction Mangers are the primary POC for emergent situations for the contractor for restoration activities
* Provides feedback to Project Management, the Resource management schedulers and planners on contractor work progress. This includes any impacts from emergent work that will impact the construction completion of a project by the target finish dates
* Helps to resolve disputes between external parties and the Duke Energy contractors.
* Provide construction related technical guidance during the project life cycle, including the site scoping reviews and constructability reviews.
* Assist the project team with construction outage sequence plan and resource strategy during bids and pricing portal events.
* Provide input during the change order review process by validating the need and cost estimate for requested changes. (Transmission)
* Work with the Outage Coordination Team and Project Team to identify the proper construction/clearance sequence plans. Align all construction activities to meet outage and project schedules. (Transmission)
