Get to know Thompson! Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services, and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma‑informed and evidence‑based/evidence‑informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0–18) and their families, both virtually and in person.

- Play a crucial role in providing individualized attention and support to students by facilitating learning in small group settings.
- Plan and deliver lessons that address the specific academic goals and learning styles of your students.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
- Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop comprehensive educational plans for students.
- Implement various instructional strategies and interventions to help students overcome academic challenges.
- Use a collaborative approach with colleagues, parents, and school staff to monitor and assess student progress, adjust lesson plans, and implement necessary interventions, ensuring all students receive the support they need to succeed academically.
- Schedule:
Mon–Fri 7:45–4:00 pm. School hours are 8:00–2:30 pm with a daily planning period from 2:30–4:00 pm.
- Starting Pay Range: $50k annually
- Full‑time benefits

- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant classroom experience
- Experience working with trauma‑informed strategies or pedagogies preferred
- Experience teaching mathematics required
- NC Teacher License required
- Experience teaching adolescent youth ranging from 6th–12th grade
- Estimated classroom size 5–8 adolescents, provision of online learning support (Ed Genuity), and small group instruction
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent written and oral communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience and clean driving record; all potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check
