THE MISSION
As our Pool Manager, you are the "Captain of the Deck." You don’t just manage a facility; you curate a safe, high-standard aquatic experience for our clients. You will provide strategic leadership to a diverse team of Lifeguards, Lead Lifeguards, and Swim Instructors, ensuring that safety protocols are ironclad and daily operations run like clockwork.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing aquatic team. You’ll be responsible for scheduling, performance evaluations, and fostering a culture of professional vigilance. - Operational Excellence:
Oversee the daily opening-to-closing rhythm of the facility. This includes chemical balancing, equipment maintenance, and ensuring the facility meets all health department standards. - Program Oversight:
Partner with Swim Instructors to ensure lesson quality and coordinate with Lead Lifeguards to maintain optimal zone coverage and incident-response readiness. - Safety & Compliance:
Serve as the primary authority on safety. You will lead regular in-service trainings and ensure 100% compliance with local and state aquatic regulations. - Client Relations:
Act as the face of the facility for our clients, handling inquiries and feedback with a professional, solution-oriented hospitality mindset.
You are a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You have a safety-first DNA, sharp administrative skills, and the ability to pivot from technical pool chemistry to high-level staff coaching in a single shift.
WHAT YOU BRING- Experience:
Proven leadership in an aquatic or recreational setting. - Technical Savvy:
Knowledge of pool chemistry and United States Swimming/Diving regulations. - Communication:
Ability to effectively lead staff and handle public relations with professionalism. - Certifications:
High School Diploma/GED required. Must hold or obtain CPO, Lifeguard Instructor, and ASCA Level 2 certifications within 6 months.
To lead our aquatic team, candidates must hold or obtain the following credentials:
- Operational Certification (State Mandated):
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO®) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO®):
These are the only two certifications accepted in all 50 states. In Illinois, a certified operator is required for any commercial or public pool to ensure compliance with health codes and chemical safety.

Essential for a manager overseeing staff, this allows you to train and certify your own team in-house.

Highly preferred for managing our swim lesson programs and instructors.- Swim Coach ASCA/USA Swimming:
Highly preferred for leading swim lessons and instructor/coaching staff

- Safety & Emergency Response:
- Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer:
Must be current and from a nationally recognized body like the American Red Cross, Starguard or YMCA. - Lifeguard Management:
Effective management is essential for leading the water safety team successfully.
