Public Services Associate

The Matteson Area Public Library District has a part-time position open for a Public Services Associate. We seek an outgoing and enthusiastic individual to develop and carry out outreach programming and to provide coverage at the Public Services Desk.

Responsibilities include:

• Develops, implements, and evaluates programs for outreach.
• Routinely works the Public Services Desk, providing reference and reader’s advisory services.
• Assists in providing technology and equipment assistance to patrons.
• Assists in interlibrary loans and OCLC.
• Assists with collection management
• Works with the social media team to market library services and connect with the community through our various platforms
• Participates in relevant training, continuing education, and/or professional development.
• Participates in library committees as assigned
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited school or university preferred.
• Highly organized and able to work both within a team and independently
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Superior customer service attitude
• Employment is contingent upon a background check

Part-Time: 25 hours per week, working a combination of mornings, nights, and weekends.

Salary: $20/hour
