Responsibilities- Maintain and repair facility components with semi-skilled and skilled labor
- Carpentry and/or masonry repairs (doors, cabinets, floors, walls, windows, partitions, steps, etc.)
- Plumbing equipment maintenance (water/steam lines, traps, fixtures, pumps, valves, toilets, sinks, heating, cooling, boilers, etc.)
- Operate machine tools and welding equipment for metal part repairs
- Inspect buildings and equipment regularly; perform preventive maintenance in assigned areas
- Provide lead work direction and training to youth workers as applicable
- Work general daytime hours; weekend hours may be required
Formal education in arithmetic (addition and subtraction) and in reading, writing, and speaking common English. 12 months of training or 12 months of experience in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and use of related hand and power tools and equipment). Valid commercial driver's license required if operating motor equipment regulated by Ohio Revised Code sections 4506.01 & 4506.12.
In the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry, applicants must have completed the mandated basic firefighter course (S-130/S-190). Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience, but not for the licensure.

Background Check Notice: The final candidate will undergo a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Criminal convictions do not automatically preclude consideration; an individual assessment will be made.
Pre-Service Training: The final candidate will attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid Pre-Service Training at the DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. DYS provides transportation, lodging, and meals. Training is Monday - Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
