Company Description

Cohasset Golf Club was founded in 1894 and is located 20 miles south of Boston. Cohasset boasts one of Donald Ross’ first solo designed golf courses while also featuring 4 Clay Tennis Courts, 4 Platform Tennis Courts, 2 Pickleball Courts and first‑class dining. In the 130‑year history of the club we have employed only 7 Head Golf Professionals. Donald Ross was involved with Cohasset starting around 1909, as well as expanding the golf course from the original 9‑hole layout to a full 18‑hole layout in 1920.

Ron Prichard led a great restoration of the golf course in 1999 and ensured some of the familiar Ross attributes were present today. Some of those attributes include a variety of short and long holes of the par 3, par 4 and par 5 variety that test all aspects of your game. The Cohasset layout of today retains much of what Donald Ross left in place when the 18‑hole layout was completed in 1922.

The club’s decision to have Prichard reclaim lost bunkers, expand putting greens to their original width and remove trees that interrupted Ross’ original intentions, have very much brought the course back to the way Ross intended.

Role Description

The Golf Shop Merchandiser is responsible for providing a high level of service and top quality merchandise to both members and guests. As a key member of our golf operations, you will be responsible for creating an enticing retail environment that reflects the latest trends in golf fashion and accessories. If you have a proven track record in retail merchandising we encourage you to apply.

A fundamental knowledge of the game of golf is preferred, but not required.

Specific Responsibilities to Include But Not Limited to:

• Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
• Self‑motivated with desire to promote and market
• Service & customer focused attitude
• Creating visually stimulating displays
• Develops and executes general and seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies
• Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the Golf Shop
• Maintains accurate records from purchase to sale: including special orders, packing slips, invoices
• Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability
• Analyzes sales and studies trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns and clearance sales
• Ensures that the Professional Staff are educated in products and merchandise carried in the Golf Shop
• Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all patrons.
• Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise.
• Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services.
• Seek and attend continuing educational opportunities in a variety of industry topics.
• Maintain extensive contact with supervisors and club management to ensure teamwork and seamless integration of all operations throughout the club.
• Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees
• Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva and other applications
• Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image while at Cohasset and also when off the premises.
