Join the dynamic team in the Albany Medical Center Critical Care Float Pool today! This is an opportunity to gain and practice critical care skills in areas such as Neuro-Surgical Trauma ICU, Medical ICU, Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, and our progressive critical care unit.

RNs in the Critical Care Float pool also have the opportunity to gain additional competencies in Emergency Department care and neuro-progressive care areas.

You will have the opportunity to work in all the Critical Care areas at the Region’s only Level I trauma center. Consider joining this highly skilled Nursing team today!

Job Responsibilities:
  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document treatments as per policies and regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care.
  • Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care decisions.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer medications as ordered.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for patients.
  • Guide ancillary personnel and maintain professional nursing standards.
  • Qualifications:
    • Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree).
    • Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
    • Certification in BLS and ACLS.
    • 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Progressive Care or ICU.
    • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
    • Knowledge of quality improvement principles and problem-solving tools.
