5/17/26

End Date: 9/14/26 (17 weeks)

Work Hours:

40 hours per week, 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Thursday–Monday off:
Tuesday–Wednesday — 1 position

Number of positions: 1

Salaries are based upon full-time/40 hours worked per week. Work schedules and days off are at the discretion of the Supervisor. This position may require working weekends and/or holidays.

Note:

Salary range compensation by hours worked is determined by several factors, including experience, seniority, the agency’s budget, and the nature of the role (e.g., short-term contract vs. full-time). For union positions, salary is determined in accordance with the applicable bargaining unit's salary schedule and governing regulations.

For short-term status changes: if selected and working less than 90 days, the position will revert to a short-term position. Short-term positions are not part of the salary scale advertised. If this reversion occurs, salary details will be discussed during the interview phase.

Job Opening

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks qualified applicants for Seasonal Forest and Park Supervisor I - Nahant Beach to perform the following duties:

Statement of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervises and performs work relative to the seasonal operation, administration and maintenance of the assigned facility, including grounds maintenance, building and equipment maintenance and repair, and recreational programming.
  • Supervises assigned staff performing visitor recreation and/or education services, facility maintenance and resource protection programs. Responsibilities include work assignment and scheduling, performance review and evaluation, and staff development and training.
  • Maintains, communicates and enforces professional standards for visitor services, staff appearance, facility maintenance, public safety and resource protection.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with Friends Groups, users and other organizations with interest in the assigned area.
  • Communicates park activities, incidents, and programs to other Departmental staff, including written reports and electronic communication.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records regarding daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal operation to provide information and recommendations.
  • Coordinates the activities and work of volunteers, court-referred individuals, etc.
  • Performs related duties such as determining supply needs, operating and maintaining equipment and vehicles, providing information to the public, interviewing candidates for employment, providing on-the-job training, and using small…
