Position Overview:

  • The METCO Director provides leadership and oversight of the Lincoln METCO Program. The Director ensures that METCO is aligned with district priorities, manages staff, and builds partnerships that advance student access, integration, family engagement, and equity.
  • The Director is part of a 4-person building-based leadership team consisting of the K-4 Principal, 5-8 Principal, METCO Director, and Student Services Coordinator.
  • The role partners with the K-4 and 5-8 principals, serving as the strategic lead and point of contact for designated grade levels while supporting all students and families enrolled in the METCO program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership, vision, and strategic management of the METCO Program.
  • Partner with the K-4 and 5-8 principals to monitor and support student achievement, integration, and social-emotional outcomes.
  • Supervise and evaluate METCO staff (K-8 METCO Academic and Enrichment Coordinator, Bus Monitors, etc.) to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Serves as strategic lead and point of contact for designated grade levels.
  • Supervise and evaluate designated faculty within designated grade levels as part of the building-based leadership team.
  • Attend team/interdisciplinary meetings of designated grade levels.
  • Attend school-based (K-4, 5-8) student support meetings, along with the principals, to contribute and advocate for students and ensure follow-up on action items.
  • In collaboration with the 4-person leadership team, support K-8 building-based functions.
  • Oversee enrollment, program compliance, and adherence to state and district requirements.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, METCO Inc, METCO Director’s Association, and external stakeholders to expand resources and opportunities.
  • Provide consistent student observations and collaborate with teachers on interventions and culturally responsive strategies.
  • In partnership with the principals, develop and provide professional development for faculty and staff and monthly parent workshops.
  • Represent METCO at school committee meetings, in district leadership meetings, identified METCO Inc. events, and community partnerships.
  • Support family engagement efforts through regular communication, program updates, and participation in family events.
  • Attend the scheduled Team Leader meetings with Principals.
  • Coordinate with METCO staff to implement summer programming.
  • Coordinate with METCO Coordinating Committee (MCC), PTO, and Lincoln METCO Parent Board and attend necessary meetings.
  • Attend Bi-Weekly Principals Meeting with the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent (along with the Lincoln Principals, the Hanscom Principal, and the Preschool Principal).
  • Attend District Leadership Council meetings.
  • Attend Summer Leadership Retreat.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Massachusetts Administrator Licensure required. (Supervisor/Director, Principal/Assistant Principal, or Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent).
  • Minimum 5-7+ years of experience in program leadership, education, or community-based work.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive practices.
