The Retail Banking Group is responsible for delivering outstanding service to our clients via our Massachusetts-based branch network, including personal and small business deposit services, as well as portfolio residential lending.

Under the direction of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is responsible for communicating and executing the day‑to‑day operations and performance standards of the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager will assist the Branch Manager in planning, conducting and monitoring sales activities to ensure deeper customer relationships. The Assistant Branch Manager will be expected to act independently, in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Personally executes an extremely high level of customer service and models and coaches these behaviors to the staff.

• Assist the Branch Manager by recruiting, developing and retaining highly effective teams through ongoing “bench” building activities as well as consistent coaching and development sessions.
• Execute outbound business development strategies aligned with the Bank’s business plan as directed by the Branch Manager.
• Ensure the branch team is operating in compliance with state and federal mandated bank regulations, Bank Secrecy Act, risk management and Hingham Institution for Savings specific policies and procedures.
• Provide ideas and innovation for problem resolution, product and service advancements and efficiency improvements.
• Independently run the day‑to‑day branch functions in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Branch Manager and other senior bank management.
• Provide a world‑class client experience and model and coach these behaviors to the other branch staff.
• Lead by example to ensure the highest ethical standard of execution by team members. Doing what is right all the time without cutting corners.
• Attend mandatory regulatory and compliance training.
• May be required to operate a teller drawer as necessary.
• May assist the Branch Manager in writing performance reviews.
• May be required to execute consumer and business account opening as well as customer product and service.
