The Pentucket Regional School District is seeking a full‑time Night Custodian.
Job OverviewPerform various cleaning duties in assigned areas of the school in accordance with the Health Department standards and the Principal’s direction.
Qualifications (Preferred)- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check.

Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies.
- Dusting and wiping down surfaces, including desks, chairs, and shelves.
- Disposing of waste and recycling materials.
- Maintaining Order:
- Setting up and arranging furniture for events or activities when necessary.
- Ensuring classrooms, offices, and common areas are organized and tidy.
- Reporting any damages, repairs, or safety hazards to appropriate staff.
- Grounds Maintenance:
- Sweeping and cleaning outdoor areas, such as walkways and entrances.
- Clearing debris from sidewalks and parking lots.
- Keeping drainage paths clear of debris (roof drains, floor drains, sewer drains, etc.).
- Assisting with snow removal and salting/sanding during inclement weather.
- Security:
- Locking and unlocking doors at specified times.
- Monitoring and reporting any suspicious activity.
- Collaborating with other staff to ensure a secure school environment.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Performing basic maintenance on custodial equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, floor buffers).
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to maintenance staff.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborating with other school staff, including teachers, administrators, and maintenance personnel.
- Following guidelines and instructions from supervisors and administrators.
- Health and Safety:
- Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines while performing tasks.
- Using cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety regulations.
- Following proper procedures for handling waste and hazardous materials.
- Flexibility:
- Being flexible and responsive to urgent cleaning or maintenance needs.
- Adjusting work hours or tasks as required by school schedules and activities.
- Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment.
