The Role

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Crane Lake Camp is seeking a dedicated and hands‑on Maintenance Associate to ensure the upkeep of camp facilities and grounds. This key role works on a team to ensure that Crane Lake Camp remains a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained environment for our community, fostering a sense of belonging. As a member of the camp’s Facilities team, the Maintenance Associate will perform a range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for staff, campers, and retreat groups.

What

You Will Do
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on camp buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.) to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Maintain campgrounds, including mowing, weeding, debris removal, and snow shoveling. Operate necessary equipment safely.
  • Perform janitorial duties, including cleaning floors, windows, and repairing basic fixtures and equipment. Manage waste and recycling disposal.
  • Assist with preparing camp for group use, including setting up rooms for meetings or retreats and securing camp after group departures.
  • Provide immediate maintenance support during emergencies, working closely with the Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workshop and follow safety protocols. Support camp leadership and work collaboratively with vendors, staff, and the community.

Additional Requirements
  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a similar role is highly preferred, especially in a camp or similar environment.
  • Physical Demands:
    Ability to perform physical tasks related to facility upkeep, including repairs, maintenance, and inspections. Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more. Stamina and willingness to work long hours, in inclement weather and for stretches of days.
  • Ability to work irregular hours including weekends.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
