Overview:
The Luke and Lily Lerner Spay/Neuter Clinic provides students at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine with opportunities for both pre‑clinical and clinical surgical training while serving pets and people in need. The Clinic delivers high‑level spay and neuter services to shelter and community animals and trains veterinary students in anesthesia and surgery competencies for healthy feline and canine patients.
Programs include Introduction to Anesthesia and Small Animal Surgical Techniques (ISAAST), a required third‑year class, a second‑year clinical rotation elective, and a fourth‑year elective, Primary Care Procedures (PCP), focusing on spay/neuter, primary care surgery, and dentistry. The Clinic also runs community outreach clinics and supports dental training labs.
The Clinic Administrator is responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring efficient client care, and supervising clinic staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing efficient operations of the clinic, including staff coverage, client admissions, payment processing, treatment plan communication, and resolution of difficult situations.
- Monitoring the clinic budget and financial operations, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Hiring, training, evaluating, and coaching clinic staff; creating job postings, conducting interviews, developing training plans, and leading regular team meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards; developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures with the Clinic Director; managing ordering and inventory of medical and office supplies.
- Maintaining overall clinic performance and client satisfaction.
Schedule:
Tuesday – Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of related experience.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Driver’s license.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, financial, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse student and client population.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed CVT preferred.
- Proficiency in additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) preferred.
- Experience in a post‑secondary education environment.
- Knowledge of veterinary clinics, animal shelters, and shelter medicine advantageous for communication with students.
Pay Range: Minimum $54,500;
Midpoint $68,100;
Maximum $81,700. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
