The Hospital Pharmacist plays a vital role in optimizing medication therapy and improving patient outcomes across the hospital. This position combines clinical judgment, collaboration with interdisciplinary care teams, and oversight of safe and effective medication‑use processes. The pharmacist practices in accordance with all state and federal regulations and may participate in Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) agreements.

What You'll Do
  • Direct and coordinate the delivery of comprehensive pharmacy services within the hospital
  • Optimize drug therapy through identification, resolution, and prevention of medication‑related problems
  • Supervise and verify the accuracy of work performed by pharmacy support personnel during assigned shifts
  • Ensure compliance with formulary management, target drug programs, medication management initiatives, and adverse drug event monitoring
  • Document and report clinical interventions, medication errors, and adverse drug events
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe, effective patient care
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and performance initiatives
  • Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including Board of Pharmacy standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient care

Qualifications

Education:

Doctor of Pharmacy;
Pharmacy required

Licenses and Credentials: MA Pharmacist license required;
Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR—Massachusetts Department of Public Health) preferred

Experience:

Working as a pharmacist 2‑3 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge and ability in all areas of the department including: IV Admixtures, Drug Information, Ambulatory, Manufacturing, and Drug Distribution.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span of the neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient; possess ability to assess patient data relative to age‑specific needs; provide care as described in the department's policies/procedures.
  • Works relatively independently.
  • Participates in department quality improvement efforts.
  • Participates in the training of medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
  • Must complete 20 continuing education credits per year to maintain license.
