Physicians Assistant

Overview

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider who is responsible for the assessment and management of a variety of patient populations, both medical and surgical. The PA develops appropriate plans of care and performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The PA may also precept a small group of learners.

• Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
• Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develop appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and examination findings.
• Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provide high‑quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Perform bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.

• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant required.
• Physician Assistant state license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a PA required.
• Skilled in taking medical histories, maintaining quality control standards, and reacting calmly in emergency situations.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
