Overview
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider who is responsible for the assessment and management of a variety of patient populations, both medical and surgical. The PA develops appropriate plans of care and performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The PA may also precept a small group of learners.
Responsibilities- Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and procedural settings.
- Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develop appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and examination findings.
- Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provide high‑quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Perform bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population.
- Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant required.
- Physician Assistant state license required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a PA required.
- Skilled in taking medical histories, maintaining quality control standards, and reacting calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
