Position: Regional Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher
Location: South Foxboro

The Southern Massachusetts Regional 911 District is a public safety agency that manages 911/PSAP operations and dispatches for police, fire, and EMS services in Foxborough, Mansfield, Easton, and Norton. The District also functions as the mutual aid control point for Bristol County, playing a vital role in coordinating regional emergency responses. With its focus on community safety and efficient emergency management, the organization is dedicated to protecting lives and property through effective communication and dispatch services.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Foxborough (Foxboro), MA, for a Regional Communications Officer (911 Dispatcher). The individual in this role will be responsible for receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate services such as police, fire, and EMS, and maintaining clear communication with field personnel. The role includes monitoring emergency systems, handling high-stress situations effectively, and ensuring accurate documentation of incidents while prioritizing the safety of the community and responders.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Emergency Medical Dispatch and experience in emergency services-related communications
  • Skills in Dispatching and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments
  • Strong Communication and Customer Service abilities, including courteous and professional interaction with the community
  • Capability to multitask, remain calm under stress, and make quick, informed decisions
  • Familiarity with operating emergency communication systems and related technology
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Completion of any state-mandated dispatcher training programs is an advantage
Pay

On training: $64,000/year (based on a full year)

Off training year 1: $73,000/year ($30/hr)

A higher off-training step may be authorized based on experience and qualifications.
