Alert Venture Foundry (AVF) is a venture studio catalyzing innovation in robotics and intelligent systems. We blend startup agility with deep domain knowledge, fostering high-performance engineering teams and scalable platforms from the ground up. From embedded systems to AI-driven enterprise platforms, we’re redefining the edge of possibility.
Job OverviewWe're looking for a Robotics Systems Engineer who thrives at the intersection of hardware and software. You'll be hands-on from day one: building test setups, running validation, debugging integration issues, and helping ship safe, high-performance robotic systems. This role is for someone who learns by doing and wants to see their work deployed in the real world.
You'll work across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls teams to ensure everything integrates into a coherent whole. Through clean testing, solid documentation, and structured problem-solving, you'll catch risks early and keep development moving fast.
What you’ll do- Define system requirements and acceptance criteria that connect user needs to engineering reality
- Build and run system-level test setups (benchtop and hardware-in-the-loop) to validate performance
- Coordinate integration across teams, manage dependencies, and clear roadblocks
- Execute field trials with repeatable procedures and high-quality data capture
- Troubleshoot integration issues using structured root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
- Maintain interface specifications, architecture diagrams, and system documentation
- Support hazard analysis and safety validation to ensure safe operation
- 3-5+ years in systems engineering, robotics, or integration roles (internships and substantial project work count)
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience identifying root causes and validating fixes
- Working knowledge of robotics systems: sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and basic perception/localization/control
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar language
- Ability to design experiments, analyze results, and document findings clearly
- Strong technical communication skills
- BS or MS in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with ROS or similar robotics frameworks
- Hands-on work with localization/mapping systems or real-world deployment challenges
- Background in hardware-in-the-loop testing, automated test systems, or fielded robotic platforms
- Familiarity with hazard analysis, risk assessment, or functional safety for machinery/robotics
If you’re excited to work hands-on across hardware and software and want to see your work move quickly from test bench to real-world deployment, we’d love to hear from you.
