Technical Project Manager – Gems Setra
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Technical Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end execution of small to large cross‑functional product development projects—from ideation through production ramp‑up and commercialization success. With an emphasis on mechanical and electrical hardware design, you will lead multidisciplinary teams encompassing product management, supply chain, quality, and operations to drive new product introduction (NPI), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects, and ongoing engineering initiatives.
This is a high‑impact role with both strategic and tactical responsibilities, requiring a balance of technical fluency, organizational leadership, and hands‑on execution. (
Note:
This is not a software development role.)
- Lead cross‑functional projects (NPI, VAVE, cost reduction, lifecycle, and operations).
- Coordinate between engineering, supply chain, operations, quality, product management and marketing.
- Oversee full project lifecycle: requirements, design, prototyping, validation, and launch.
- Develop and manage project plans, resources, budgets, and schedules.
- Utilize visual management tools (dashboards, Kanban, etc.) for team communication and accountability.
- Apply structured and agile methodologies for efficient execution and risk management.
- Track and report on key project metrics, including time‑to‑market, cost, and quality.
- Identify and mitigate risks, manage issue resolution and change orders.
- Support sustaining engineering (VAVE, supplier risk, obsolescence, issue resolution).
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and process optimization.
- May be assigned additional projects and responsibilities at the sole discretion of the manager/supervisor.
- Accelerate time‑to‑market by driving rapid product launches, resolving project uncertainties swiftly, and ensuring smooth production transitions while proactively addressing risks.
- Promote team engagement and continuous process improvement by providing strong leadership, leveraging visual management tools to track project health metrics, and effectively allocating engineering resources across multiple initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering—Mechanical or Electrical, or relevant engineering work experience.
- Two or more years of experience managing technical projects related to electro‑mechanical design, or similar hardware‑based product designs or manufacturing process.
- Experience in an industrial durable goods manufacturing environment. Exposure to high‑tech, highly regulated or mission‑critical environments is beneficial.
- Proven experience working across cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with structured (waterfall) product development (tollgate/phase‑gate) and lean methodologies for Kanban or agile‑influenced experimentation cycles.
- Familiarity sustaining initiatives such as VAVE, lifecycle and obsolescence planning, supply chain risk, and product refresh programs.
- Strong skills in project planning tools (Gantt, Kanban) and visual management systems.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 Tools (Excel, Teams, CoPilot, Project, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong curiosity for AI tools, workflow automation, and productivity enhancements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, resilient, and eager to grow through challenges.
- Demonstrates strong organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a results‑driven approach.
- Leads with a focus on data‑driven decision making, while also considering potential delays, obstacles, and factors that could impact program progress.
- Exposure to FMEA and design verification plans and reports (DVP&R) or similar tools is a plus.
