Electrical Engineer
LocationDevens, MA
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering support, system ownership and subject matter expertise for electrical infrastructure including utility electrical infrastructure, substations, UPS, generators, motor control centers, distribution panels, transformers, motors, transfer switches, lighting, grounding and lightning protection, heat race, etc.
- Guide and oversee preventative maintenance of electrical equipment, including job plan development and maintenance.
- Oversee electrical elements of new projects: scope of requirements, basis of design, detailed design, installation, commissioning, as‑built documentation, and turnover of equipment.
- Evaluate impact on site operations from maintenance, infrastructure modifications, testing, etc.; coordinate with end users and task implementation teams before tasks that may impact operations.
- Engage with EHS and task execution teams to ensure safety evaluations, planning, and implementation.
- Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and site policy and procedure.
- Conduct root cause evaluations, investigations, deviations, change management, and corrective actions.
- Perform power studies including fault current calculations, protective device/relay evaluations and setting selection, arc flash analysis, and maintain Incident Energy equipment labeling.
- Review electric rooms and maintain cleanliness, organization, and a safe environment.
- Maintain solid relationships with internal manufacturing, site engineering, quality departments, external vendors and third‑party facilities management.
- Perform work in office, central utilities building, and other campus facilities; may work within manufacturing facility with hazardous chemicals and PPE.
- Make decisions aligned with site management; work independently with high initiative to resolve complex problems.
- Supervised by Director, Utilities & Sustainability; general direction with independent solution development.
- May direct third‑party integrators and manage temporary engineering support and contractors.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical industry or equivalent, including plant utilities and auxiliary systems.
- Ability to manage and organize multiple complex technical projects; familiarity with large scale production facilities and GMP.
- Effective team player and individual contributor.
- Knowledgeable in industrial building utilities troubleshooting.
- Willingness to work extended hours or modified schedule for 24/7 operations, urgent response events, or off‑normal hours.
- Proactive troubleshooting skills and desire for continued technical and professional development.
