OverviewWatson‑Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions, a part of the Spirax Group, is a world leader in peristaltic pump manufacturing. This role is integral to the development and operation of extrusion processes within our Cleanroom manufacturing environment, driving volume growth and KPIs for existing and new product assembly cells.
Responsibilities- Duplicate and standardize extrusion processes and equipment to deliver quality pump products that meet customer expectations.
- Procure US special‑purpose machinery and Modified on‑the‑Shelf (MOTS) equipment for new product cells.
- Develop and execute capital requests to support the new facility’s manufacturing operation.
- Lead safety and GEM (Lean) initiatives, including ergonomic assessments and standard work development.
- Implement process controls to minimize rework, scrap, and waste.
- Transfer knowledge for precision pumping technology to the new manufacturing plant, including virtual and on‑site reviews.
- Design safe equipment and cells with ergonomic attributes.
- Support NPD teams to meet manufacturing requirements efficiently.
- Drive continuous improvement projects using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, safety, and quality across the manufacturing scope.
- Arrange procurement of jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids; verify equipment performance and safety.
- Maintain site information in the AX (ERP) system—routing files, Kanban settings, work orders, and tools.
- Provide frontline fault‑finding and diagnostics on assembly equipment and processes.
- Assist in reporting and solving production problems and customer complaints.
- Collaborate on cost justifications for new processes and equipment to improve productivity.
- Advise corrective actions and visit suppliers as required.
- Issue and ensure compliance with the ECO (Design Change) system.
- Oversee training of assembly team members on machines and processes.
- 5–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in extrusion with SPC for process consistency.
- Experience analyzing production extrusion, test equipment, and processes; documenting modifications.
- Proficiency in lean transformation tools, workflow optimization, and FMEA, DFMA, and RCA.
- Cleanroom manufacturing experience;
Class 7 preferred. - 2D & 3D CAD experience.
- Six Sigma Black or Green Belt preferred.
- MS in Engineering – Plastics/Extrusion or equivalent qualification.
Salary range: $101,166 – $130,749 (subject to education, experience, geography, and internal equity). For roles outside Massachusetts, the applicable range may be lower.
