The RN‑BSN nursing faculty member reports to the chair of the Nursing Department. This is a 12‑month faculty position with teaching in both the RN‑BSN and the traditional BSN programs, as well an oversight responsibilities within the RN‑BSN online program. The nursing faculty ensures that course student learning outcomes are met through provisions of faculty and administrative duties. The faculty member is required to participate in the mission and governance of Anna Maria College, nursing curriculum development and evaluation, and development and implementation of the systematic evaluation plan for the RN‑BSN program.
The Nursing department also has needs in lab coordination functions that this role would fulfill.
- Teaching Responsibilities:
- Promote high standards of academic achievement and integrity in assigned courses;
- Implement established course syllabi or develop new syllabi in accordance with College standards;
- Harmonize course content among sections of the same course;
- Review student work and report grades to students on a timely basis;
- Maintain documentation according to college and program policy;
- Engage in continuing development of effective instructional strategies;
- Hold regular office hours for student conferences;
- Maintain a portfolio of student advisees, guiding them in progression toward degree;
- Assist with the planning and implementation of clinical and lab teaching and learning for the assigned course(s);
- Write letters of recommendation as requested by students or alumni of the Program;
- Participate in relevant professional development activities to stay abreast in the field of nursing, and as required for the maintenance of professional licensure;
- Adhere to provisions described within the Faculty Guidebook and Faculty Handbook;
- Works in compliance with the Nursing Department and attends its meetings.
- Service Responsibilities:
- Contribute to a collaborative and collegial working atmosphere within the Program and the College, supporting the stated missions, philosophies and goals;
- Participate in faculty development and training;
- Employ communication systems, technologies, and policies in service of the smooth operation of the institution;
- Serve on college-wide, faculty, and departmental committees, as needed.
- Research Responsibilities:
- Encourage and support research and innovation in nursing;
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based decision‑making;
- Seek grant opportunities and/or partnerships to enhance research initiatives;
- Maintain an innovative approach to course delivery, meeting students where they are.
- RN‑BSN Responsibilities:
- Responsible for curriculum and strategic priorities of the department;
- Maintains interest in pedagogical issues affecting programs within the department and other issues of importance in higher education;
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and innovation;
- Conducts regular curriculum reviews to ensure rigor, relevancy, and currency;
- Reviews and submits annual Catalog updates;
- Manages the department’s budget;
- Completes the department’s annual reports;
- Leads the department on strategic planning;
- Ensures quality of instruction through periodic assessments and audits;
- Reviews and submits course schedules to the dean;
- Ensures periodic reviews of departmental policies and procedures and implements updates as necessary;
- Develops initiatives to increase new and transfer student enrollments;
- Evaluates transcripts for transfer students;
- Participates in Open Houses and other growth opportunities;
- Supports and engages in marketing efforts on behalf of the School of Nursing programs;
- Assists with recruiting opportunities for the School of Nursing programs;
- Responds to student appeals, complaints, and requests for exceptions;
- Coordinates faculty assignments to ensure equitable workloads;
- In collaboration with the chair, hires part‑time faculty to teach courses and oversee their onboarding and evaluation;
