Vineyard Montessori School (VMS) is a non-profit, independent school founded in 1975 and rooted in a close-knit seaside community. We serve 107 children from Toddler through Grade 8 on our beautiful downtown Vineyard Haven campus, located within walking distance of the ferry to Cape Cod.

Role Description
VMS is seeking Montessori Certified Teachers for our Toddler Classroom (ages 15 months - 2.9 year), Primary Classroom (ages 2.9 - 6 years old), Elementary Classroom (ages 6 - 12 years old). These are full-time, year round positions.
The Lead Teacher of a Montessori classroom is a guide who helps direct the children’s activities academically, emotionally, and physically in a prepared and peaceful Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach their fullest potential in the developmental areas, in accordance with Montessori Philosophy.
The lead teacher shall set up, operate, and maintain the order and neatness characteristic of the Montessori environment.
The teacher shall possess collaborative communication standards with all families and staff striving to become the most effective educator possible. Lead teacher responsibilities fall under six (6) categories which are Leadership, Teacher-Child Interactions, Environment, Planning and Scheduling, Staff Relations, and Family Involvement.
Job Requirements:
- Montessori MACTE certification in-hand or in-progress
- Must be 21 years of age or older and EEC Lead Teacher Certified
- B.S. in Early Childhood Education & teaching experience preferred
- Must possess effective communication techniques and the ability to relate and communicate to children, staff, parents and Head of School
- Must possess the ability to provide a classroom management style that is predictable, respectful and peaceful
- Ability to make sound decisions and take responsibility for the safety and well-being of students
- Open to feedback and dedicated to continuous learning and professional growth
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Genuine interest in a child’s wellbeing, development and Montessori education
This is a full-time, year-round position offering a highly competitive salary range of $65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
